Equestrian Program

The Langley School District Equestrian Academy at Brookswood has been operating since 2016.  It is a unique program that allows students to be exposed to multi-disciplinary equine activities, speakers, and field trips.  The curriculum connects passions with purpose for students, connecting their passion for horses with knowledge acquisition in the equine field.  The academy creates a community cohort of like-minded individuals that share a passion for equestrian sport and competition. The academy is designed to fit the needs of various ability levels, disciplines, and demographics of riders. This academy seeks to provide a personalized approach that supports passions and skills in horse related sports or horse related career opportunities.

The program will consist of three blocks where students will receive 8 credits in Equestrian Leadership and Equestrian Academy and 4 credits in Physical and Health Education. Students will complete the requirements for Careers Life Explorations 10 and Career Life Connections 12 within the Equestrian Academy courses. Students will learn equine education, have access to equestrian mentors, and explore off-site experiences, field trips, and speakers during the LEA program blocks. Students will enroll in Brookswood for their academic classes.

Students would be scheduled into one Academy Block of time in semester one and two Academy Blocks in semester two. See sample schedule below:
