This year is exceptional in many ways, but one is related to our yearbook protocols. Due to increasing concerns related to student privacy and protection of personal property, we are no longer permitted to include students in our annual yearbook without obtaining acknowledgement and agreement from students. Last week during admin visits to classes, some of our student were able to complete release forms agreeing to being included in our yearbook.
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA)
We appreciate the cooperation from families in completing school permission forms online through MyEDBC. The purpose of these forms is to ensure our students are healthy and safe and to inform parents/guardians of activities that take place or are related to school. Our District is committed to the protection of privacy and is guided by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). Under FOIPPA, secondary school aged students are able to provide their own mediarelease consent as long as they are deemed fit to make that decision. Please have a discussion with your child about completing the media release consent form. If you have any questions, please contact your administrator.
