UBC HOPE, the Humanitarian Organization for Empowerment is a peer-generated grassroots organization. We work on a mutual aid basis focused on three main pillars: student engagement, outreach within schools, and reaching out to community groups. As a part of our goal of reaching out to schools and engaging their students, we would like to collaborate with the Langley School District on our Hope for Success School Mentorship Program. We hold similar workshops at UBC, however we wanted to accommodate to Langley students needs if they are unable to attend our workshops at UBC (due to the lengthy commute).
The workshop will provide tips on the UBC application process and essay writing. Furthermore, students attending the event will have the opportunity to be paired with a mentor from UBC. Our mentors are trained in providing one-on-one personalized essay editing and are passionate in working with youth. We also provide information on scholarship applications, and the qualities that UBC looks for in their prospective students.
We are so thankful for Mr. Moino from Langley Secondary School who has generously allowed us to host a workshop for prospective applicants. Please send this out to your counsellors, post-secondary liaisons, and staff who you think would be able to recommend students for this program. Please note that UBC HOPE charges $10 for students to join and that there is limited capacity.
